NIC Inbound Travel Insurance is designed to give eligible international visitors the protection and support they may need during their stay in Tanzania.

Who Needs Inbound Travel Insurance?
Inbound Travel Insurance is required for eligible foreign visitors entering Mainland Tanzania, subject to exemptions provided under the applicable laws and regulations.
Citizens of East African Community (EAC) Partner States and Southern African Development Community (SADC) Member States are exempted from the requirement, together with other categories specified under the applicable framework.
Visitors are encouraged to check whether the requirement applies to them before travelling to Tanzania.
Premium and Validity
The premium is the Tanzanian Shilling equivalent of USD 44 per visitor.
The insurance provides cover for the period stated in the insurance certificate, up to a maximum of 92 days, subject to the applicable policy terms and conditions.
Visitors should keep their insurance certificate accessible throughout their journey.

1. Apply Online
Provide the required personal, passport and travel information: https://inbound.nicinsurance.co.tz/
2. Make Payment
Complete the prescribed premium payment through the available authorised payment channels.
3. Receive Your Certificate
Once the application and payment process is successfully completed, your insurance certificate will be issued electronically.
4. Keep Your Certificate Accessible
Keep the certificate on your phone or in printed form so that it is readily available whenever verification is required.
Visitors are encouraged to obtain their insurance before travelling to Tanzania. Preparing in advance helps save time and makes the arrival experience smoother.
Travelling to Both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar?
Many visitors combine their trip to Tanzania, perhaps enjoying a safari on the Mainland before continuing to Zanzibar for a beach holiday.
If your journey includes both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, you do not need to purchase the mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance twice, provided you already hold valid cover obtained at your first point of entry, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
This means a visitor entering through Mainland Tanzania with valid NIC Inbound Travel Insurance may subsequently travel to Zanzibar without purchasing another mandatory policy. Likewise, a visitor entering through Zanzibar with valid cover may subsequently travel to Mainland Tanzania without purchasing another mandatory policy.
